Happy New Year 2010!

We wish all our customers a Happy New Year!

To celebrate we've released the 7mm Stitch Markers into our January 2010 Collection. There's new designs to choose from and as always our handmade markers are in limited supply.

We've also added three new colours to our popular Russian Doll stitch markers, Gold, Fuschia and Red.

The snag free markers are growing in colours and popularity! Choose from bright neons, candy colours, vibrant purple and warm orange. More colours to follow soon.

There are lots of new ideas planned this year and we will be at WonderWool Wales 2010 in April, so don't miss that. More details here. We also hope to venture further afield and will let you know in due course of our plans.

Christmas Collection

Just Arrived! Funky Tape Measures, Snag Free Stitch Markers, Crochet Hook sets, Spiritual Collection Stitch Markers - new colours Matryoshka/Russian Doll Stitch Markers

The festive season is upon us and we've been busy putting together our Christmas Collection which includes some new products as well as some old favourites.

The adorable felt designer tape measures are still available. There are three designs to choose from and these plus a set of markers and a gift bag would make a great stocking filler or swap present. Choose from bunny, owl and the cute Russian doll.

New stitch marker sets include our very own set designed for the clapotis pattern and includes 19 x 6mm jewel markers and 1 stitch marker. This gives you all the markers that you need and a few extra should you loose any at the bottom of your stash or between the cushions on the sofa!

Just £5.50 per set from our Christmas Collection

  Dual stitch markers
One marker has a red bead, and one a green bead. The idea being each colour denotes a different pattern change. For example, the green beaded marker could remind you to increase by one stitch and the red to decrease by one stitch. The markers can be swapped over on the needle as needed.

We've more project bags in from NicsKnots and also Nics DPN rolls which are just gorgeous.

After much searching for a snag free stitch marker, we've found what we think is the answer. Tough little elastic bands in a choice of neon colours or candy pastels, these markers fit up to a size 6mm needle and are a bargain at 75p for a pack of 10.

We've also added more kits to our popular 'Make your own stitch marker' range. Each kit comes with everything you need to make 10 markers, including instructions and you just need to supply a couple of tools and some creativity. There are also options for making crochet markers and earrings.

There are also some limited supplies of back copies of UK knitting magazines, including Let's Knit, Knitting and Simply Knitting. International buyers, please contact us first before buying to obtain the correct postage.

Last Ordering Dates For Christmas

UK - 20th December

Europe - 10th December

USA - 9th December

Australia - 3rd December

As always, our stocks of these products are limited and we expect these ones to sell fast!
Best Wishes

More additions to the Atomic Knitting Spiritual Collection, now includes Turquoise stitch markers and crochet markers

also dyed jade square crochet markers

flower shaped jade crochet markers

All these markers are in limited supply with only a few sets of each type available.

http://www.atomicknitting.co.uk/

We also have new gift bags for knitter, each with various goodies in or alternatively you can customise your own version by selecting a fabric bag and adding a selection of needles, markers, notions, accessories and even our handmade jewellery. They make great presents for your knitter friends and family

Nicsknots Sock Bags Have Landed!

We are very excited to announce that the lovely drawstring bags that are handmade by Nicsknots are now available to purchase from Atomic Knitting.
All Nicsknots sock project bags are handmade in the UK using a variety of funky printed fabric and fully lined with recycled cream material. With its drawstring, just pop your knitting in here and off you go.

Also ideal for knitting groups where you don't want your yarn rolling around on the floor but it keeps falling off your knee; pop the yarn in here and the problem is solved

With a circular base, this bag stands flat rather than some bags which have no proper 'base' and is loads bigger than most sock knitting bags. It's positively massive inside. The bags measures 15cm across the base and 17cm tall. (5.5 x 6.5 inches)

We've selected some amazing bags such as the Russian doll print bag £10, which can be further accessorised with the Russian doll stitch markers which are now available in selected colours in sets of 3 from £4.95.
We also love the funky cat print on this bag - a must for any cat loving knitter £10.

And of course our collection would not be complete without a cupcake bag £10. Launching today in celebration of the end of National Cupcake Week....yes really!

Perfect for gift giving - simply team up with some stitch markers, yarn, needles or crochet hooks.

Last weekend saw Atomic Knitting at Wonder Wool Wales in Builth Wells. We had a fabulous time and met some amazing people and made some new friends too! Here's a picture of the stall and all the goodies on it! The stall took over 5 hours to set up and unpack everything, which I really wasn't expecting, but I think it's worth it. Many Thanks to Becky at Purple Sparkle Crafts for supplying the most amazingly scented cupcake candles that drew a lot of attention from the crowds! More of Becky's scrumptious candles and melts can be found here
We spent the weekend camping in the field behind the showground, which was not bad actually, as the weather was mild and the rain held off. We ended up at the Little Chef for tea on the saturday night as we couldn't find a pub that we thought we could get into dressed as we were! I can highly recommend the fish and chip shop in the centre of Builth - was the only take out eatery open at 9pm when we had finished setting up.

Taking Stock

It's been a busy few weeks with the end of the accounting year, which means the dreaded annual stock take that can take from a few hours to a few days. As each year goes by the number of beads to count gets higher! Anyway, I think I'm done now, so that's out of the way for another year.

Also been spending a fair bit of time getting organised for the Wonderwool 09 event in Builth Wells at the end of the month. The stall structure is now in place, as is the lighting and now it's just making sure I have enough stock to take. The stall will be a mix of loose beads and pendants, jewellery, wool, needles, stitch markers and accessories - so quite a few things to sort out!

Atomic Knitting Summer Stitch Markers

summer 08 marker collection

The weather has improved no end...a sweltering week means the early launch of the summer stitch marker collection.

These unusual shell beads were bought from the Chepstow Bead Fair in March and are perfect for the summer knitter. Available in 5 pastel shades and teamed with Swarovski Crystal bicones, these are really pretty markers.

Spring Bank Holiday

The weather finally seems to be getting warmer, which has the effect of making the weeds in the garden grow faster! After spending a day out there trying to remove most of them and planting some more lavender, my efforts seemed to have made a little improvement, but there's more work needed yet. And There's always tomorrow....

I've just finished reading a great knitter story by Gil McNeil - Divas Don't Knit. I grabbed a copy right before going on hols, and just finished it yesterday.

The storyline was right up my street -

Knit-one… Jo Mackenzie needs a new start and jumps at the chance to take over
her grandmother’s wool shop in a small seaside town.

Purl-one… But it’s not going to be easy with two young sons to cope with, an A-list actress moving into the local mansion and a knitting group addicted to cake.

I have to say that I'm rather taken with her knitting books, and enjoyed reading this one. I love her website too - the shop on the main page looks perfect...I wonder where I can find one like that! The sequel isn't out yet, but as soon as it is, I'll be getting a copy. Highly recommended!

Design Update

Atomic Knitting Stitch Markers have really taken off this year, with new limited edition stitch marker collections added monthly, these are proving really popular with customers. The April collection of markers are just being finished, ready for launch later this month. Here's sneaky peek at a few...
The Island Collection was featured in the March 08 Issue of Quick and Crafty magazine as a coveted knitting accessory, and is selling fast, with only a few sets left. The collection will be closing at the end of March.

The Island Collection

The Russian Doll Collection has flown out of the shop! This incredibly cute and popular babushka collection in available in a range of colours and features a clasp to hold all the markers together when not in use and can also be used to clip directly on to a stitch.

Babushka Stitch Markers

Quick & Crafty Magazine Feature

In tandem to Starlight Beads, the stitch markers and knitting jewellery also have their own website and advertising. The premium stitch markers & row counters are sold under the Atomic Knitting brand on their own website, with appearances in the Bohobeads eBay store, and also on Etsy. Wholesale stitch marker options are also available through the website. Atomic knitting is advertised in Simply Knitting magazine and Let's Knit. We were also featured in the March issue of Quick & Crafty magazine with our Bahamas stitch markers which are part of The Island collection.

New designs for 2007

I really do like these stitch markers - very feminine and perfect gift for a knitter for Valentines! The hearts are so tiny and delicate, each with a hint of AB on them! I do have these in other colours as well although these really do suit the mood right now!
