History

Atomic Knitting is a small family run business based in South Wales, UK, formed by Emma Phillips in 2007.

Emma is a self taught beader and began making beaded jewellery and collecting unusual beads before combining her love of knitting with her bead passion. The business trades on the web and the handmade stitch markers can also be found at many of the UK knitting and fibre shows. Atomic Knitting stitch markers are also available wholesale to local yarn stores and internet shops worldwide.

The Designs

Each set of stitch markers is designed and hand crafted by Emma or one the design team during busy periods. Atomic Knitting use a wide variety of beads, including Lampwork beads, Millefiori, Cloisonné, cats eye, wooden beads, semi precious stones plus many more and of course the finest Swarovski ^(TM) crystals so that our stitch markers really come to life! Typically we only make a few sets of each type which make up our limited edition collections.

The Name - Atomic Knitting

Our distinctive brand of Atomic Knitting is actually nothing to do with a similar sounding pop group of the Naughties! The name derives from forming stitches whilst knitting and is a nod to Emma's scientific background.

Atomic - The atom is a basic unit of matter, much like a knitting stitch.

Knitting - Put enough of either of these units together (atoms or stitches) and you form a structure of some sort. The stitch markers simply guide you through this process and help make your design come to life.

Hence Atomic Knitting.
