About our stitch markers.....

Butterfly stitch markers
Atomic Knitting stitch markers are individually hand beaded in our bead studio in Wales, UK by our design team and are designed using a wide variety of beads, including lampwork beads, Millefiori, Cloisonné, cats eye, wooden beads, plus many more and of course the finest Swarovski crystals.

All Atomic Knitting stitch markers are available for purchase in ribbon tied sets or with a co-ordinating organza bag. We've updated our packaging and offer a wide variety of marker designs featuring glass, plastic, and wooden beads. Metal rings, detail beads and eyepins are either silver plated (low nickel) or gold plated. Atomic Knitting offer a 'Make your Mark' design service for custom designs and size stitch markers. For full details click here

About Atomic Knitting

In our design studio in South Wales, AK designers have been creating hand beaded stitch markers since 2004 and our unique designs are available to purchase through the website and also at local and national craft fairs. Most designs are limited to a few sets and we are happy to make up custom orders for our customers through the 'Make Your Mark' service where the customer can choose the beads and ring sizes, to create unique stitch markers for a particular project or as a gift for friends and family.

We are also an expanding business, so what started with stitch markers and hand made jewellery is now moving into beaded row counters to count pattern repeats, bamboo knitting needles, silk needle cases, crochet markers and other knitting stash accessories.

Come and meet us...

Our next event will be Fibrefest 2009 on the weekend of 22nd & 23rd August 2009 at Coldharbour Mill, Working Wool Museum, Uffculme, Devon (click here to view a google map). The Mill, currently open to the public http://www.coldharbourmill.org.uk/ , will play host to the event and will be open for tours as well as Steam Up, a unique experience where the original steam engines are fired up. The mill is a unique 200 year old processing and worsted mill and is utilising its recently restored water wheel to once again process and spin yarn for fibre producing farms, see http://www.fibreharvest.co.uk/

What is a Stitch Marker?

A stitch marker is a mnemonic device used to distinguish important locations on a work in progress (WIP). It can be used to indicate increases, decreases, pattern changes, yarn changes, to aid counting blocks of stitches and more!

      • stitch counting made easy
      • minimise mistakes saving yourself time and yarn
      • gain confidence with complex patterns
      • perfect unique gifts for you and the special knitter in your life

How to Use Atomic Knitting Stitch markers...

      • place the stitch marker on the needle in your right hand, then knit as normal
      • when you reach the stitch marker again, simply move it across from the right hand needle to the left - remembering of course to perform the action that the stitch marker was denoting
      • remember the stitch marker can be placed on either side of your knitting
